Overview

Sébastien Richemont is a seasoned litigator within the Litigation and Dispute Resolution group in Montreal.  His main areas of practice are class actions, shareholders disputes, arbitration, manufacturer’s and professional liability, contractual litigations and securities matters.

With 25 years of trial and dispute resolution experience, Sébastien has leading-edge knowledge that allows him to understand the legal issues that clients may face while having practical know-how to support them at each step of the dispute settlement process for complex files.  He prioritizes a pragmatic approach based on effectiveness, value creation and predictability.

Sébastien has led several major assignments during his career and has represented many major institutions such as Microsoft, Intact Insurance, Air Canada and Manulife.  He is credited with obtaining favourable judgments and settlements in various cases involving several million dollars in a variety of fields such as energy, new technologies, infrastructures, manufacturing, consumer protection, and financial markets.  His proven advocacy skills have been recognized by his peers.  Sébastien is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America society and has received many recognitions from legal directories such as Lexpert, Best Lawyers and Benchmark in the fields of class action, commercial litigation, securities, D&O liabilities and product liability .

In addition to his professional practice, Sébastien is an Advocate Society trainer and was the co-organizer of the professional training program sponsored by the Université du Québec à Montréal entitled “Pleading Techniques”, a 15-hour training seminar for lawyers.

Prior to joining Fasken, Sébastien practised for 21 years in a boutique firm that specialized in litigation, arbitration and insolvency.
