On October 3, 2005, Dofasco Inc. successfully completed the US$177.8 million acquisition of the automotive and mechanical tubular products divisions and head office operations of Copperweld Holding Company and 50 per cent of Copperweld's bimetallic wire business through a transaction with Atlas Tube Inc. of Harrow, Ontario.
Dofasco purchased the assets related to Copperweld's mechanical tubing and automotive components businesses, including facilities located in Ontario, Ohio and Kentucky, from Atlas immediately following the acquisition of Copperweld Holding Company by Atlas.
